The story of our house

Where History meets Hospitality

Our house has a rich story woven into the history of Egg Harbor. Originally built in 1907 for Dr. Horace Franklin “Doc” Eames on the ridge above the village as part of his La Vista farm and orchard holdings, the home served as both his family residence and medical practice for decades.  In 1993, the structure was relocated to its present lot—moved and carefully renovated by Richard and Gloria Hansen, who integrated it into the “Cupola House” property. Over the last four years, we’ve poured our passion into transforming this storied house into the Bed and Breakfast you see today: blending restoration and modern comfort, celebrating original details while crafting elegant spaces that invite calm, connection, and delight.

This the location was an amazing place to stay. The house was spacious, clean, and had amazing views! The location was perfect, right in the center of Egg Harbor. We were within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and the marina. The hosts made our stay run smooth. We would love to be back and recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Door County.

Fantastic house in a prime Egg Harbor location. Walk to shops, resturants, and the harbor. This historical home is spacious and clean. The attention to detail catches an eye. Plenty of room in the kitchen to enjoy meal prep. Large dinning room. Bedrooms are adequate with comfortable beds and big private bathrooms and water views. The large front porch provides sunset views, wonderful conversations, and an ice-cream cone, or two. The back yard was perfect for an afternoon of couples corn bag toss tournament. The owners respond in a timely manner. Our group ranged from the ages of 40-67, and all were impressed with this home. We already booked for next year!

The Fancy B is a lovely place to stay. We stayed for a few nights near the end of July. It is located within walking distance of nearly all that Egg Harbor has to offer, including some cute shops and restaurants just next door. And a great location for exploring the rest of Door County as well. You can see the water from your room and the front porch is a peaceful place to sit and watch the passersby. The hosts are awesome, too!

The location of homeport is absolutely perfect. We arrived Friday afternoon and did not move our vehicle until Sunday when we left. The spacious house is perfect for large groups, each bedroom having its own bath. Walking distance to everything you’ll need. The owners were super accommodating. We booked it again for next year.
